No Vote, No Voice.

06.05.10

Hey Everyone (Leth-fans in the UK),

Phil here. Just a quick note about today’s election.

I know we’re seen as a political band but I’m not about to tell you who to vote for, I’m not generally the guy who writes the lyrics in the band either. I’ll do the odd song on a very rare occasion (Black Gold for example, was about Bush’s obvious hunt for Oil).

We only really write about what’s important to us, sometimes it can be on a personal level but if it has a political bent, it’s because we think more people should be made aware of what’s going on.

Which is why I’m writing today. Like I said, I’m not telling you who to vote for but I am asking that if you’re in a position to vote, that you do so. Our country may change for the better or worse today and it’s up to everyone in the UK to make a choice on what you want to happen next.

I’ve not got the time for people who say “Oh, I don’t vote – I don’t care who wins” or “I’m not into politics” cause those are generally the people who will moan about what’s going on more than anyone else. If you don’t vote, you’re denying yourself the right to even be upset about the state of our economy, our hospitals, the armed forces, our schools, even all the bloody speed cameras and speed bumps that the council just seem to keep putting up (who do you think is giving them the money to do so?) and pretty much any other topic that isn’t a personal thing to you.

If you’re not voting as you don’t know who to vote for, now’s the time to read up on the parties policies. Jump onto google and just type in “(party name) policies”. There’s a lot more out there than the big 3, if you find a party that share your views, and I’m sure you can find one that’s closer than all others, you know what you need to do.

If you can pick up the phone and vote for Simon Cowell’s piggy bank, you can go to your nearest polling station and vote for your future.

This is Phil on the Leth blog, over and out.
